TRAVEL AWARDS

Over $20,000 in travel awards will be awarded to assist students, postdocs, and early career scientists with registration and travel expenses for this meeting. Most awards will be based on the quality and relevance of submitted abstracts. Abstract submitters will automatically be considered for all awards. The abstract submission deadline is 15 August 2026.

Burroughs Wellcome Fund Emerging Scholar Award
This travel award supports a trainee or early-career researcher whose work aligns with the priorities of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF), including studies focused on the underlying mechanisms of normal pregnancy, preeclampsia, preterm birth, and late-term pregnancy loss. The award recipient will receive travel support and be invited to present their research in a 15-minute oral presentation during the meeting. Recipients will be selected based on the quality and relevance of their submitted abstract.

NIH Travel Award
To maximize participation by early-career scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students, 20 travel awards of $1,000 each will be offered. The award is intended to help cover meeting registration costs and a portion of travel expenses. The goal of these awards is to recognize excellence in reproductive biology research and support the professional development of emerging investigators in the field.

MCI Trainee Success Program
The Male Contraceptive Initiative is dedicated to supporting the career development of graduate and postdoctoral trainees passionate about male contraception research. The program provides ongoing funding for activities and resources that directly advance your career in this field.
Applications are reviewed based on the 
relevance of the proposed activity to the applicant's career goals in male contraception and academic and research qualifications. We encourage you to contact [email protected] if you have any questions about eligibility or the application process.

SGP Excelsior Award
The SGP Excelsior Award identifies and promotes exceptional early career scientists from under-represented groups within the fields of physiology and biophysics who seek to become scientists and mentors. This award recognizes exceptional early career scientists aspiring to become independent scientists and mentors who bring a unique perspective to the fields of physiology and biophysics based on experiences that have shaped their identity or challenges they have overcome. Presented each year at the SGP Annual Meeting, the award includes a travel stipend to attend the meeting and present a platform talk, two years of formal mentorship from a senior member of SGP, and a one-year SGP membership.

SGP Rising Star Travel Awards
SGP Rising Star Travel Awards of $500 each are awarded to students and postdoctoral researchers to attend scientific meetings and courses. These awards recognize individuals with the potential to make significant contributions to the field of general physiology and are intended to foster greater engagement among physiologists worldwide. Individuals from underrepresented groups within the fields of physiology and biophysics are strongly encouraged to apply.
